A year in honour of the most polymorphous artist of the 20th century.
The year 2023 marks the 60th anniversary of Jean Cocteau’s death, an artist with a thousand faces and a thousand talents, who cradled the 20th century with his magic. Between poetry, theatre, cinema, painting and drawing, Cocteau never stopped creating. A friend to all the giants of the century, from Proust to Picasso, Jean Genêt to Jean Marais and Édith Piaf, his legacy goes on today, in music, on stage, on screen and in libraries around the world.
To celebrate this “Year of Cocteau”, the Maison Jean Cocteau, the town of Milly-la-Forêt and local associations are joining forces to promote this anniversary and commemorate it in all its forms throughout 2023. On the program: exhibitions, concerts, public readings, screenings, lectures and much more – an opportunity to discover, rediscover and enhance the artist’s imprint.
